C 2 Podcast

On Feb. 1, 2018, Cheyenne Eldridge and I made and published our first podcast! You can click here to listen to it. This was a completely new experience for us, but we had a lot of fun in the process.



Cheyenne and I have a lot in common. We are both sophomore graphic design students at Ohio Northern University, but we live in two completely different situations: Cheyenne lives on campus, and I live off campus. Therefore, we thought it would be interesting to explore the pros and cons of these two options.



The process of planning out our podcast turned out to be quite simple. We referenced an article from MyCollegeOptions.org and added some of our personal experiences. The article made a lot of great points we were able to understand and relate to, so it was very easy for us to talk about them.



In my opinion, the process of recording the podcast was the trickiest part. It took multiple attempts for us to get our final audio. It took us awhile to get down the introduction and once we started our recording attempts, different factors required us to start over.  Some of these factors include carts rolling down the hallway, and us forgetting what we were supposed to say.



Of course, our final podcast does have imperfections. There were a couple of times Cheyenne and I stumbled over our words, but we feel it adds to the character of our podcast. The podcast is mostly informational, but we tried to add some comedy to help our listeners feel more inclusive in our discussion.



Overall, this was a fun experience for both of us. For our first attempt of a podcast, I feel we were quite successful. I hope you and other listeners find our podcast useful. Maybe we may reappear. Keep in touch!

I am not a crazy cat lady but, in all honesty, I do not know if I could love anything more than my cat, Adobe. Preparing for the Interview

Recently, I had my first big interview experience. I have interviewed for jobs before, but those required little thought or preparation.   This position, on the other hand, required much more time and effort. I ran for the graphic design intern position at Thirty-One Gifts in Columbus, Ohio. I originally found the position online and applied. To my surprise, they set up a phone interview with me. Of course, I was nervous for the phone interview, but I was not too nervous. For a phone interview, you can wear what you want and stare at the ground as much as you want without the interviewer knowing! I did research on the company to prepare. I guess my joyful voice and charming personality won over the recruiter because they invited me to their headquarters for an on-site interview. The moment I was told they wanted to interview, my mind started rolling. I truly love the Thirty-One brand, so I wanted to make sure I did the best I possibly could. My philosophy behind “going Dutch”

Most people would agree part of what makes going out a date is one person pays for the other. It is almost expected. If you are like me, you think this is a stupid requirement. It does make sense and is acceptable if you are married or in a relationship, but I do not see how it is necessary in the early stages of dating. Personally, I prefer to “go Dutch.” For those who have not heard this term before, going Dutch means the couple pays separately on a date. Yes, this is uncommon and seems to have a negative connotation, but I do not see it as a bad thing. First, when a male takes a female on a date, he is almost expected to pay for the female. I think this has become the norm due to the gender stereotype which implies men should take care of women. Now, I am not saying this is bad, but it can be unfair.
